zipThe Hualapai (pronounced WAHL’-uh-peye) announced that they will expand tourist offerings on the canyon’s west rim with the introduction of a pair of zip lines.

It will take participants nearly 1,000 above a side canyon and each zip line will carry four people.

About one million visitors come to the Grand Canyon West, located outside the boundaries of the formal national park annually.

The location is mostly known for its Skywalk, visitors can get a stellar view of the Colorado River some 4,000 feet below from the glass bridge stretching 70 feet from the canyon’s wall.

Visitors can participate in aerial tours from Grand Canyon West, river excursions or choose to spend the night in one of 26 rustic Hualapai Ranch cabins.

The cabins faces the Grand Canyon’s rim and has a front porch where guests can sit and admire the view along with enjoying  the recently opened restaurant at the popular tourist site.

The new zip line attraction, scheduled to open in January will be managed by the same tribal corporation that manages the above offerings.

Grand Canyon National Park has been attracting record numbers of visitors.

The Arizona park received six million visitors in 2016 reflecting a nine percent increase over the 5.52 million visitors in 2015.
