The Arrowsmith family from Staffordshire faced one of their worst nightmares, when they had to board a flight from Turkey, wearing nothing but soaking wet swimwear. The family of three was heading home after their luxury holiday in one of the five star resorts of Turkey.
As their flight was not scheduled until afternoon, the trio decided to spend one luxurious morning by the pool of the luxury resort. When they asked the hotel authority about a place to keep their luggage, the hotel staff offered to look after their luggage and instructed them to leave them to the left of the reception desk. The Turkish hotel also informed the Arrowsmiths that the bellboy would organize the suitcases and would make sure to send them to the right coach.
After the swim, when the travelers went back to the reception desk to collect their suitcases, they found nothing.
The holiday reps tried their best to find whether the suitcases had ended up in another coach to Turkey airport or not. But after they failed to find any of the lost possessions, the three tourists had to make it to the flight in drenching wet clothes.
The Arrowsmith family got another round of shock as they discovered that their insurance policy would not cover the £3,000 as their luggage got lost from the hotel reception itself.
Caroline Wayman of Financial Ombudsman Service confirmed that it would be unusual for insurance companies to pay out if the hotel reception loses the luggage.
