The tourism authorities of Sri Lanka issued a statement on the present situation in Kandy on Thursday afternoon.
They mentioned that tourists could now be able to resume their travel plans to the hill capital and went on to add that the area is steadily returning to normalcy. Kavan Ratnayaka who is the Authority Chairman of Sri Lanka mentioned in the statement that the situation in Kandy is improving and the area is steadily returning to normalcy.
He went on to add that no violent incident has been reported in the last 18 hours.
They also noted that tourists had been issued with special travel passes by the regional Police authorities to permit tourists who opted to move out of Kandy on account of the curfew. The curfew imposed since last night was lifted this morning.
The statement then specified that the current situation in Kandy, fortunately for the nation had no impact on the other portions of Sri Lanka and that the daily affairs and activities had taken place smoothly outside the Kandy district.
