“The World Economic Forum has already confirmed our country as the world’s first in natural resources. Leisure tourism is a natural vocation of the country, but in order to reach our goals, we need to diversify our offer and grow a lot also in business tourism, which reduces the effect of seasonality in the sector and still brings a visitor with high spending level, “said Tourism Minister Marcelo Álvaro Antônio.
Argentina is the largest contributor of leisure tourists to Brazil at 86%. Ecotourism is the preferred segment of the Japanese visitors (65.7%). While Netherlands (32.3%), the United Kingdom (30.8%) and Italy (29.4%) tourists visited Brazil for its culture.
Among the most popular cities for leisure, Rio de Janeiro remains the main destination for these tourists, followed by Florianópolis (SC), Foz do Iguaçu (PR), Armação dos Búzios (RJ) and São Paulo (SP).
