Celebrating the anniversary of the first time that Samuel Pepys recorded seeing a Punch and Judy-style show in London in 1662, this fun festival is a popular annual treat for families. Puppeteers travel from all over England to perform.
This year is the 41st Covent Garden May Fayre, and it starts with a procession at 11am on May 8 around the neighbourhood, before a church service at midday and puppet shows from 12.30pm.
You’ll also find puppet workshops, food stalls and entertainment including maypole dancing, clowns and folk music bands.
