Trafalgar has announced that it will remove all single-use plastic (SUP) water bottles from its coaches by 2022 as part of its commitment to being SUP-free on all trips. This latest initiative is estimated to eliminate 5+ tons of plastic waste in the next five years.
Created by The Travel Corporation (TTC) a decade ago, and powered by TreadRight, Trafalgar wants to make travel matter. Its mission covers three pillars – have a positive impact on people, places and wildlife.
With a holistic approach to making a difference, the move joins other single-use plastic removal from Trafalgar’s existing operations practices, from using reusable, durable luggage and name tags from recycled materials, guest tote bags made from recycled materials and also the banning of single-use plastics within the brand’s offices around the globe.
They are working with their partners on the ground to make sure that the guests will have access to clean drinking water. They will be identifying convenient points along the way where they can safely and responsibly source drinking water.
Trafalgar’s CEO Gavin Tollman said: “The war on plastic is essential and needs to happen now,” He believes that the travel industry has a responsibility to do their part, consider the impact of single-use plastic and what can be done collectively as an industry to make a difference.
