Train caugh fire in Pakistan, 73 dead

A train caught fire in Pakistan leaving 73 dead which was travelling from the city of Karachi to Rawalpindi. Three of the carriages burst into flames.

 

 

According to the Pakistan minister for railways, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed the fire was caused by the explosion of a gas cylinder being used by passengers cooking breakfast.

 

 

It is also believed that almost 40 people are believed to have been injured and many of the victims died as they tried to jump off the burning train.

 

It has been predicted by the officials that the number of dead will continue to rise.

 

 

In the south of Punjab province the accident took place near the town of Rahim Yar Khan.

 

 

Tezgam is the train running from Karachi across most of Pakistan to Rawalpindi. It is one of the oldest and most popular train services in Pakistan..
