Published on : Thursday, February 14, 2013

Planners at both Southwest and AirTran have made adjustments to the operation of each airline as a winter storm continues to intensify across the upper mid-Atlantic region and New England. Airport conditions have resulted in flight cancelations today in Albany, Boston (Logan), Buffalo/Niagara, Hartford, Long Island, Manchester, Newark, New York (LaGuardia), Philadelphia, Portland, Maine, as well as Providence, and Rochester, New York.

Including Thursday, today, and tomorrow, Southwest Airlines has canceled a total of nearly 280 flights systemwide as of this hour. For context, Southwest had 3,246 flights scheduled today and 2,482 for Saturday.

For today and tomorrow, AirTran Airways has canceled a total of nearly 50 flights systemwide as of this hour. For context, AirTran had 573 flights scheduled today and 552 for Saturday.

City-specific cancelation numbers can be calculated by visiting the websites of the individual airports. We have City Fact Sheets for Southwest and AirTran destinations that provide general information about our destinations served, number of daily flights, facilities, and employment numbers.
