Dark Hedges that has been showcased on the renowned Transformers movie entitled ‘The Last Knight’ is likely to trigger a much increased number of tourists arrivals this year, sparking concerns for this area.
This new movie is all set to release in the month of June, 2017 and it stars Anthony Hopkins and Mark Wahlberg, directed by the film-maker Michael Bay.
The Dark Hedges would features for a really brief moment in the three-minute trailer of the movie. It shows a mysterious figure riding a horse galloping through the sinister scenery.
Therefore, the Bregagh Road close to Armoy has become very popular as a tourist attraction in the last few years especially after it was sown as the ‘Kings Road’ in the famous HBO series, ‘Game of Thrones’. In fact, the tourist arrivals here has actually doubled following its portrayal in the series.
The area has also appeared in the Transformer film that is soon going to be released.
This, however, is a cause for concern since The Woodland Trust has warned that this site might not be able to survive for the next 20 years on account of the tremendous pressure of the large number of vehicles using this rural road.
Over the Easter holiday break, there had been major traffic mess in this area when a large number of buses, coaches and cars jammed the road while fans tried to click pictures of this iconic site.
