Besides shopping discounts, many airports also provide considerate services for UnionPay cardholders to upgrade your travel experience. For example, at Incheon International Airport, South Korea, cardholders will get a T-money transportation card after buying airport shuttle bus tickets with UnionPay card and enjoy a deduction of KRW1500 when leasing WIFI with UnionPay card. At the Chinese Corner in Melbourne Airport, Australia, cardholders can enjoy cash discounts or exclusive privileges when paying with UnionPay cards. They can also get an extra local phone card (with 1G mobile data flow) when paying with UnionPay QuickPass card.
Optimized card-using services and security system
UnionPay cardholders can enjoy overseas tax refund, UnionPay VIP lounge, emergency cash assistance and other card-using services as always. Tourists can claim for tax refund via UnionPay cards after shopping at over 300,000 merchants worldwide with tax refund signage. The refund will be remitted directly into their UnionPay card accounts. Chinese tourists visiting Europe may also claim for tax refund after return back to China. In South Korea, cardholders can also enjoy luggage depositing, free WIFI and other value-added services at UnionPay VIP lounge.
It should be noted that when withdrawing cash abroad, the accumulative cash withdrawal with each UnionPay card issued in mainland China shall not exceed the equivalent of RMB 10,000 per day or the equivalent of RMB 100,000 per year. Cardholders are advised to take more than one UnionPay cards when traveling abroad.
Moreover, card-using safety is also important. Do not disclose your personal information when withdrawing cash or shopping at merchants. Be alert to any phone call or text message that requires money transfer or your PIN, as well as ATMs with “Maintenance” or “Out of Service” signs.
