With air fares soaring sky high for the Mediterranean many Europeans waiting to take holidays in the peak season will find Bangkok to be a better option. Bangkok is cheaper than Benidorm. B.A. and Ryanair fares are so high that a trip to the U.S. is cheaper than going to places within Mediterranean.
With the rising airfares many long haul destinations have become cheaper than travelling to the Mediterranean even when it comes to the low costing airlines.
A relatively cheap airline easyjet is charging £444, without luggage, meals or drinks on return flight from Manchester to Alicante while a round trip from Manchester to Bangkok on Etihad via Abu Dhabi is costing £426 – with 30kg of baggage allowed, plus meals and drinks on board.
Travelling from Southern England is even more expensive. Ryanair’s flight from Stansted to Faro in Portugal has gone up to £254, but flying to New York from Heathrow will come down by £2.
B.A. round trip tickets to Malaga was £837 which is £15 than the fare to Orlando Disney world. Owing to the pressure of demand and supply many airlines have decided to charge more. At this time of the year it is more comfortable to travel to the Mediterranean than taking long haul flights feel experts.
Following the trend the biggest holiday firms are offering interesting package holidays over weekends for the Mediterranean. The demand is high and the tour companies are making good profit despite prices.
Even Thomas Cook has sold many packages despite the controversy that the company was involved in. The death of Christi and Bobby Shepherd by carbon monoxide poisoning, had called for a boycott from 2006. This week the company apologised and business has already started off well.
