The land checkpoints at Woodlands and Tuas are expected to be used by about 430,000 travellers daily during the Lunar New Year festive peak period, says the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
The Lunar New Year holiday is coming up on Feb 8, 2016.
ICA said travellers can expect heavy departure traffic from Feb 4 to 7 while arrival traffic is expected to be particularly heavy from Feb 9 to 14.
Travellers are advised to adjust their travel plans if possible in order to avoid a surge of travellers and vehicles seeking clearance at the land checkpoints, ICA said in a statement.
The ICA noted that it will continue to take necessary measures to improve clearance efficiency as much as possible without compromising security.
“Travellers are reminded to check and ensure that they are using their own valid passport. There have been instances of Singaporeans presenting wrong or invalid passports for immigration clearance,” ICA said adding that such cases will lead to delays and cause inconvenience to the passport holders as well as other checkpoint users.
