Aurora Expeditions has unveiled two new destinations as part of its walking tour programme; Nepal’s Annapurna region and Tibet both offer easy-paced walks and cultural sightseeing.
Walk in the footsteps of Tenzing Norgay
Travelling with three-time Everest Summiteer, Tashi Tenzing, groups participating in the Tibet – Roof of the World tour will explore the birth country of the first man to reach the Everest summit, Tenzing Norgay.
The journey focuses on the history of the land and Tenzing’s Sherpa ancestors. Further highlights include short day-walks to holy sites and monasteries as well as a visit to view the north face of Mount Everest.
Trekking through Himalayan foothills
In the Annapurna region, you’ll be surrounded by the panoramic views of the peaks and rice terraces on a short five-day, easy-paced trek through the Himalaya foothills.
For added adventure, this trek is teamed with a gentle rafting trip along the Seti river and a stay in a luxury river camp, before searching for rhino, tigers and 600 different bird species in the Chitwan National Park.
Group travel organisers can book for parties of between 12 and 16 for both of these walking holidays and each trek is led by specially trained mountain safety guides.
