In the WTM London, the group of Trinidad and Tobago, comprising senior officials of the Tourism Development Company of Trinidad & Tobago and the Tobago House of Assembly had meetings with the travel trade in source markets and hosted various events to showcase its food, music and cultural experiences. It also held press conferences with the global media like Responsible Travel, Adventure Travel Magazine, National Geographic Traveller, BBC Radio, Trip Advisor and Legardere Sports.
WTM was a successful experience for them, as declared by team Trinidad and Tobago. Thomas Cook airlines will be flying to Tobago from Saturday, 12th November, 2016. Flights to Tobago can be booked from Munich, Frankfurt and Manchester. Virgin Atlantic airlines will continue flights from the UK to Tobago from December 2016. Negotiations are on to establish a Sandals resort in Tobago.
Many travel companies offer customized throughout the Caribbean for eco-tourists and culture seekers and they consider Trinidad and Tobago as a sought after destination for bird watching and nature seeking. Dr. Lisa Indar – Director, Tourism and Health Program at the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) introduced the executive members of the UNWTO to the Caribbean Tourism and Health Program and discussed how the UNWTO can collaborate with CARPHA for spreading the program globally.
The principal objective of the THP is the increased health, safety and security of tourism facilities and sustainability of the long-term image and fame of Trinidad and Tobago as a tourist spot.
Trinidad and Tobago’s booth at WTM was themed, “Retained from the past, preserved for the future, enjoyed in the present.” World Travel Market (WTM) took place in London from November 7–9, 2016. It is a prestigious global event for the travel industry for meeting professionals and executing business deals.
