TripAdvisor profiting from the world’s cruellest animal attractions

Published on : Monday, April 25, 2016

TripAdvisor TravellersTripAdvisor is promoting and profiting from some of the world’s cruellest wildlife tourist attractions reveals World Animal Protection.World Animal Protection estimates that at least 550,000 wild animals are suffering at the hands of irresponsible wildlife tourist attractions around the world, many of which are promoted and sold via TripAdvisor to its 300 million visitors each month.

Tourists buying tickets to ride elephants, handle sea turtles, watch dolphin performances and take lion and tiger ‘selfies’, via the world’s largest travel site are usually unaware of the abuse and suffering the animals experience in these venues.

One Response to TripAdvisor profiting from the world’s cruellest animal attractions

  1. Delighted that World Animal Protection has brought this abuse of animals to world attention. Hope that more and more people boycott such senseless abuse of animals. While the elephant rides in India may not be as bad as those in Cambodia and Thailand, the use of these elephants in Ajmer Fort, Jaipur, Rajasthan for example is an illegal activity with most of the animals not even being registered with the Forest Department. While registration with the FD will not lessen the abuse, I wish to state that these rides are not only ethically wrong but illegal, too.
Hopefully, the Supreme Court of India will put an end to all this when they pronounce judgement in a bunch of petitions being considered by them presently.
