At the oath ceremony organized yesterday, President Tsai Ing-wen expressed his eagerness to uplift the tourism industry of the country and establish it as one of the significant travel places in the world. This remark was made at the Tourism Festival award ceremony which took place in Taipei.
In 2016, the country welcomed almost 10.69 million foreign tourists making tourism industry as one of the key economic contributors of Taiwan. To quote Tsai, ‘’ I am here today to show that the administration cares about the tourism industry. We will support our tour operators so that the quality of tourism services in the nation can continue improving and attract more international travelers who would return multiple times.’’
He also confirmed that the tourism industry is at the crossroads and will face many difficulties in 2017. The government is all geared up to use all resources in promoting Taiwan tourism and create different workstations in north, south, central and east.
She also added that government policies would shape-up as per the demands of the tourism industry. To quote Tsai, ‘’ we must create opportunities for all sorts of developments in the tourism sector. Taiwan is in the center of the Asia-Pacific region and has a diverse culture, cuisine and natural landscape.
All these are important tourism resources. I look forward to seeing more innovative tour services so that the sector can continue to grow.’’
