After an unprecedented interruption to services, I am pleased that TT-line services resumed on Friday night, with double sailings in both directions ensuring that 3500 passengers and vehicles have been carried over the weekend.
This is an enormous effort in very challenging circumstances, and I congratulate the leadership and employees of TT-Line, including the shore staff in Terminal Services and the Customer Contact Centre, for their success in moving passengers to different sailings and ensuring accurate information was communicated effectively.
In further good news, I can also confirm that the Link Span at Station Pier, which was damaged by a freak wind event on 13 January 2016, is now repaired and operational and will optimise freight capacity and loading times.
While the total cost of the flood damage and the timeframe to rectify damaged infrastructure is yet to be confirmed, Tasmanians can rest assured the Government is getting on with the job of rebuilding after these unprecedented floods.
