Tunisia earnestly requested UK government to loosen up a little about spreading warnings to tourists after Tunisian terror attack in 2015. The government-issued warnings have caused Tunisian tourism industry to witness a drop of 90% British tourists in 2016.
The warnings are being issued after two consecutive terror attacks killed 39 people, including 31 British tourists, which alone was enough to scare Britons away from Tunisia. But the government issued warnings are spreading fear among tourists like wildfire. Thus, Tunisia is being turned down by the tourists, when it comes to choose travel destination. Also, tour operators from UK have stopped offering any packages to Tunisia after the blast.
Ambassador Nabil Ammar stated, “Every week terrorist cells are dismantled. Terrorists are arrested or neutralized. This should give a positive image, not a negative one. If you take statistics, you have much less chance to die in Tunisia or to have any harm in Tunisia than so many countries close to us.”
He also added, “Part of the solution against violence and terrorism is to have a good economy.”
Hotels, aviation industry is facing a fall out. The economic down surge can only be cured if UK stands by them and help them regain what they lost.
It seems, the terror attack did not just killed 39 innocent people, but also it killed the travel industry in Tunisia.
