In the international health tourism, in order to endorse Turkey, the Economic Ministry has developed a “Health Services Export Strategy and Draft Action Plan.” As per the draft, hospitals in Turkey will be allowed to become a part of sectoral trade and purchase delegations abroad to make sure that Turkey has a greater share of the global health tourism pie. Essential efforts will be made in order to provide treatments in Turkey fully accessible by foreign insurance companies.
India, Thailand and the U.S. are the nations supplying highest number of overseas patients in the world. Countries like Turkey and Singapore are hoped to move frontward in this area in the next five years. Cosmetic and plastic surgery, dental treatments, oncology and organ transplantation services are anticipated to be the areas of immense growth in health tourism.
Health tourists like countries where technology and quality can be accessed at affordable prices, at the same time pay attention to whether hospitals are credited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) supervisory body. Turkey positions sixth in the JCI accreditation ranking with its 48 health care providers.
