Turkish authorities to meet Booking.com officials on June 22nd

turkishThe Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci announced on Wednesday that the Turkish authorities will host officials from online booking portal Booking.com on June 22.

On March 29, an Istanbul court had suspended the site’s activities in Turkey, after the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB) filed a lawsuit against the leading online travel agency on grounds of unreasonable competition.

Zeybekci met Booking.com representatives last month and presented the conditions that would allow the website to restart operations in Turkey. Zeybekci said Turkey had the right to claim a monetary share from Booking.com as the firm has profited greatly from its operations in Turkey, in spite of the fact that their administrative offices were located abroad.
