Twin snags spell trouble for two Air Iindia flights, 100s harassed

Air IndiaChennai: Around 340 air passengers were left stranded at the Chennai domestic airport on
Friday after they were leftfuimingthere for hours due to technical snag in two Air India domestic flights.

 

According to airport sources, an AI flight from Chennai to Hyderabad with 167 passengers had all passengers onboard and was ready to take off when the pilot identified a technical snag in the aircraft and the passengers were offloaded.

 

The aircraft which was meant to take off at 6 pm on Friday but left Chennai at 11 pm, five hours behind schedule. Air India officials had a tough time pacifying the angry passengers, a source added.

 

A Mumbai-bound Air India flight was also delayed by about five hours and the 174 passengers were later accommodated on a special flight.

 

Airport sources said the flight was scheduled to take off at 8.30 pm on Friday. “Initially, they were informed that a minor technical snag had been encountered and the flight would be ready in an hour and, so, the passengers were made to wait in the lounge,” said an official.
