Two quakes of 4.3 and 3.5 degrees in the open Richter scale were felt in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic, the Institute of Seismology of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo said.

The strongest of both tremors occurred Sunday night at 20:33 local time in the province of La Romana and the other had its epicentre Monday morning at 06:37 in La Altagracia.

There have been no reports of damage or injury so far from the earthquakes.
Ten days before, a seism of 3.7 degrees shook the provinces of Santiago RodrĂguez, Valverde, Santiago and Puerto Plata, north of the country.

As part of the La Hispaniola island which it shares with Haiti, the Dominican Republic has over 12 tectonic fractures.
