Two Venues, One Space: YI Bar & Lounge at Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen

Published on : Tuesday, December 3, 2013

Two VenuesFor Shenzhen’s most fashionable hangout, look no further than Yi Bar & Lounge.  Situated on the sixth floor of Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen, the sophisticated two-in-one venue is spread across the open lobby and a large wrap around balcony with spectacular views of the city skyline. Yi translates to “at ease,” which is exactly what this glamorous yet comfortable space is about.

During the day, Yi Lounge provides a luxurious avenue of respite for busy shoppers or a casual and relaxed environment to entertain clients and colleagues alike.  Both traditional English and special oriental high tea sets are offered; each three-tier stand featuring a mouthwatering selection of sandwiches, scones and petit fours developed by Pastry Chef Owen Xiao.

The oriental version — aptly called Our Local Spin — is the first of its kind in Shenzhen with inventive creations such as a deliciously crumbly bamboo charcoal scone, just-sweet-enough Sichuan pepper chocolate macaron, and the ginger and sesame chicken bruschetta makes a savoury addition.  Each set is served with a choice of English or Chinese tea or coffee.  Guests can choose to have a glass of Carpenè Malvolti sparkling wine or Moët & Chandon Champagne for an additional supplement.

As the sun sets, the music is turned up as Yi Bar opens and the spaces turn into a hotspot for the city’s urban chic dwellers and visitors to socialize.  A perfect place to unwind with a deserving drink or two after a long day is also the ideal weekend watering hole.  Extensive cocktail, mocktail and wine lists are available.

FOO Chef Brian Chan has also developed seven unique variations of homemade popcorn as part of Yi Bar’s inventive snack menu.  The enticing choices include truffle, with a heavy dose of premium truffle oil; flavourful rosemary and garlic; and sweet and salty, an addictive mix of cinnamon, sugar and star anise.  “Be careful, these delicious concoctions might put you off cinema popcorn forever!” Chan says with a laugh.  Yi Bar is the also the fitting choice for pre-dinner drinks or a nightcap, especially when visiting one of the Hotel’s world-class restaurants, FOO and Zhuo Yue Xuan.

Yi Bar & Lounge is open daily.  Yi Bar operates from 5:30 pm to 12:00 midnight and Yi Lounge from 2:30 to 11:30 pm.  Afternoon Tea is served at Yi Lounge daily from 2:30 to 5:30 pm.  Yi Bar & Lounge is located on the 6th floor of Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen, 138 Fuhua Third Road, Futian District, Shenzhen 518048.
