typhoon hong kongTyphoon Haiyan, probably the strongest storm ever to hit land, wreaked havoc in Philippines killing more than hundred and causing immeasurable damage. Tourists have been evacuated from most regions as the category 5 storm lashed lands disrupting air, port, airway and land transport services. The death toll is expected to rise as rescue workers and soldiers reached areas cut off by the massive storm, now barrelling out of the Philippines towards Vietnam.

“Bodies are lying on the street,” said Captain John Andrews, deputy director general of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines. Several regions reported heavy flooding. Airports were closed causing hindrance to rescue operations.

The category storm has reduced to Category 4, but still has the strength to cause heavy damage to land. Till now more than 7,50,000 people have been evacuated.
