The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) describing responsible tourism initiatives as kind of a model for other locations worldwide. International tourism organization has developed closer ties with Kerala tourism and UNWTO bringing to the forefront the significance of further association to expand sustainable tourism.
Kerala Tourism Director U.V. Jose presented a report on RT Campaigns to Xu Jing, UNWTO Regional Director, Asia Pacific at a recent meeting held at the UNWTO headquarters in Madrid. To quote Mr. Xing, ‘’ The UNWTO is impressed by the Kerala model of responsible and sustainable tourism. The projects can be included as part of the UNWTO’s global programs and the report can be a case study for other destinations. We are eager to strengthen our relationship and discuss matters of common interest.” He further suggested that collaborating with Kerala tourism for further improvement of sustainable development goals and joint initiation of measuring sustainable tourism with UNWTO’s Technical Cooperation Program as well.
Kerala Tourism invited UNWTO to convey presentation at Joint Commission Meeting in May this year in Bangladesh along with UNWTO’s International Conference on ‘Tourism Statistics: Measuring Sustainable Tourism’ at Manila which is going to start from June 21.
