DOT’s Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee (ARAC) announced the appointment of 22 members.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Elaine L. Chao mentioned that the committee is a useful forum for the Department to receive feedback from aviation community stakeholders.

In 1991 the U.S. Department of Transportation established the ARAC as a discretionary Federal Advisory Committee to provide advice and recommendations on a full range of aviation-related issues in the development of regulations.

Aircraft operations, airman and air agency certification, airworthiness standards and certification, airports, maintenance, noise, and training were provided.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has implemented over 70 percent of ARAC’s recommendations.

In the FAA headquarters in Washington DC the committee meets quarterly. Currently there are 22 members who represent the organisations from across the aviation community directly and indirectly impacted by the FAA regulations.

The members include aircraft owners and operators, airmen and flight crew members, organizations representing airports, maintenance providers, manufacturers, public citizen and passenger groups, training providers, and FAA employee labor representatives.
