After prohibiting the Tunisian women from boarding the Emirates airlines, Tunisia has banned the landing of the airline in the capital Tunis.
There is widespread anger in Tunisia and the rights groups condemned it as a ‘racist and discriminatory’ measures.
The UAE mentioned that the security information was responsible for the delay.
The transport ministry commented that the measure would remain in place until Emirates was willing to operate flights as per the law and international agreements.
Emirati Foreign Minister Anwat Gargash tweeted that they contacted their Tunisian brothers regarding the security information that necessitated taking specific measures.
He further added that they highly value Tunisian woman and respected them.
As per the Tunisian government officials UAE had banned Tunisian women from flying to or transiting through its territory.
Later on Friday the Tunisian government had asked the UAE ambassador to clarify about the current stance.
However, the local media reported that the Tunisian women were barred from taking Emirates flights to Dubai for many days.
Some of the Tunisian women stated that their journey to the UAE had been delayed while others had to undergo additional visa examination.
Tunisia had been trying to establish relations with UAE that got damaged during the 2011 revolution.
