The traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports mentioned that the Cargo Traffic at the Dubai World Central rose to 9.1 per cent.
A total of 704,735 tonnes of freight was handled by DWC till September reflecting an increase of 9.1 per cent as compared to 645,689 tonnes during the same time last year.
The first nine months of the year saw a passenger traffic of 649,627 at DWC showing a growth of 7.9 per cent as compared to 602,228 passengers during the corresponding period last year.
It was noted that Eastern Europe was the top contributor to traffic at DWC with 253,650 which was followed by GCC (174,563) passengers and the Middle East (82,978 passengers).
The top destination cities for passenger volumes as reported during the period under review were Moscow, Kathmandu and Amman.
Flight movements was 24,875 during the first nine months coming down to 15.3 per cent compared to the same period in 2016.
The average passengers during January and September per flight rose by 29.9 per cent to 120 as compared to 93 during the same period last year.
An average of 74 flights weekly to 18 international destination is operated by a total of four passenger carriers across 12 countries from DWC.
