Uber appoints Hardford as chief operating officer

hardfordBarney Harford will join Uber as the chief operating officer, he earlier worked as the chief executive of Orbitz.


He will be the second-highest ranking executive at Uber Technologies.



Former chief executive Travis Kalanick  was earlier searching for someone to fill the position.



The company had suffered majorly in the following months after the resignation of Kalanick.



Post a lawsuit from Alphabet’s self-driving car company Waymo, a department of justice investigation in the US there was a potential ban to its operations in London.



Harford had earlier worked with new Uber chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi.



Harford worked as the chief executive at Orbitz in 2009.



For $1.6 billion he sold the company to Expedia.Khosrowshahi was the chief executive of Expedia at the time and appointed Harford to the designation of the company’s president for Asia Pacific.


Harford is also onboard with the United Airlines and works in an advisor capacity at Uber since October.


Harford will be responsible for global operations, marketing and customer support for both the ride sharing business as well as Uber Eats according to Uber.
