Uganda Tourism ExpoDr. Betty Addero Radier who is the chief executive officer of Kenya Tourism Board said that one of their main aims was to motivate regional tourists to explore the breathtaking locales of the African nations and get a taste of the spectacular holiday sanctuaries.

For this reason, Tourism Boards present in this region have started addressing the issues that have been restricting the free movement of domestic tourists.

They include the introduction of the Single Visas in the year 2015 as had been done in partnership with the East African Tourism Platform (EATP). EATP is a private organization that works for the participation of the country’s private sector in the process of the East African Community integration.

Also, the initiative has also been able to establish a system under which East African Nationals can travel from one state to the other utilizing only an identity card instead of passports.

Belise Kariza-Rwanda’s Chief Tourism Officer said that the development was in reaction to the several bureaucracies that had come with acquiring a passport. Also, not all the travellers are capable of affording passports, feels Kariza.
