UK ambassador to Kenya Nic Hailey said in his statement that the government will support the counties to address violent extremism, youth radicalisation and terrorism for sustainable peace.
In a cordial meeting with Governor Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Amason Kingi (Kilifi) and leaders from the other counties, the experts discussed ways to address the insecurity of those place. The ambassador said that they talked with the governors and county officials on security.
The coastal counties will receive all the aid from the UK government in order to revive the industry. The ambassador said the Coast has the potential to attract tourists, like the British holidaymakers as it has beautiful beaches, warm weather and friendly people.
“I am among the British who visit Mombasa and other parts of the region for holiday due to the stunning beaches and tropical weather,” he added. He also pointed out that the UK market has been helping Kenya’s tourism over the years.
The counties will collaborate with the UK government and the EU on tourism promotion.
