From October 2019 the new blue passport will be introduced in phases  to those who wish to renew or want to apply for a new travel document.

During spring 2018 the government mentioned that a new supplier of the new passport will be appointed.

There will be a new super-strength plastic polycarbonate material that will be difficult to alter according to the government.

Every passport issued by the UK will continue to be valid as a European Union travel document until 29 March 2019.

Post the date of leaving, all current British passports will lose this status.

Curently all UK passport holders can travel anywhere in the EU without informing the authorities.

The border guests will only be checking that the travel document is valid but post Brexit the British citizens will turn into a third country national having no automatic right of admission.
