UK tourist attractions are about seven times costlier than overseas

madame-tussauds-londonMerlin Entertainment, the UK’s biggest owner of theme parks, has charging fee almost seven times as higher than the similar versions of it in other parts of the globe.

For instance, a family need to pay £130 for two adults and two children for visiting Madame Tussauds – which otherwise costs  just £18.30 in Prague if you want to watch the waxworks. Same family would save £94 in Istanbul, £54 in Berlin and £51 in Amsterdam for similar attractions.

Windsor’s Legoland charges £50 more for a family of four than in Germany.

Justin Urquhart, of finance company Seven Investment Management, urged Merlin to stop ripping off its British customers.

The parks should now be cautious that with too much of profit they might price themselves out from loyal UK customers.

Its newest theme park, Legoland Japan, opened in April.

A spokesman for Merlin said: “Compared to many entertainment experiences, our prices offer great value.”
