UnionPay International and CAISSA Touristic jointly announced to conduct all-round cooperation in overseas travel of Chinese tourists, including incentives to overseas card use and naming tourism groups of popular travel routes. This will provide more convenient and favorable payment experience for holders of UnionPay cards (card number starting with 62) during their travel.
After more than twenty years’ development, CAISSA Touristic, founded in Germany, now offers more than 6000 high-end tourism products geared towards different groups in over 100 countries and regions, with clear advantages in overseas travel to Europe. UnionPay card is the preferred payment choice for Chinese tourists going abroad. Its acceptance environment globally, especially in Europe is constantly improved. Cardholders can use UnionPay cards with convenience and ease in 38 countries and regions, including free-duty shops, department stores, hotels, and discount villages frequented by tourists. The commonalties of these businesses have led to the all-round cooperation.
The two sides have agreed that CAISSA members using domestically issued UnionPay cards overseas (excluding Hong Kong and Macao) are entitled to 5% card-using incentives for spending that exceed a certain amount. Spending 5000 yuan with a single UnionPay card entitles card users to 200 yuan discount and spending 10000 yuan entitles card users to 500 yuan discount. Before setting out, travellers may login the official website of CAISSA to fill in UnionPay card information and submit an application.
In the meantime, UnionPay International and CAISSA will introduce popular routes to destinations such as Europe, Japan and Singapore to improve tourists’ spending experience in destinations. Besides, tourists may take the CAISSA Touristic bus with UnionPay logos in Europe to visit famous attractions in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, and etc.
Currently, more and more Chinese tourists travel overseas. The latest statistics issued by the National Tourism Administration indicated that travel agencies in China organized outbound trips for 8,953,200 people in the first quarter of 2015, registering a year-on-year growth of 22%. In recent years, UnionPay International has unremittingly promoted cross-sector cooperation with government tourism institutions, online and offline travel agencies, conducted cooperation worldwide on the basis of complementary advantages and improved the payment experience for UnionPay cardholders in tourist destinations.
