Previously, only customers heading from China or Hong Kong to the United States could check two bags for free.
The airline has stated that the fees for oversized and overweight bags would continue to apply.
Currently United serves 89 weekly flights to four Chinese destinations and this includes places like Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
The Vice President of Atlantic and Pacific Sales at United, Marcel Fuchs said that this move is actually a reaction to the feedback from passengers who had asked for added benefits on China flights. He went on to assert that by allowing a second checked bag at no additional fee they aim to make the experience of travelling to Hong Kong and China more convenient for customers.
