Following the opening of the UniVisa travel in Nairobi, tourists coming to East Africa will only have to apply for one visa. Citizens and tourists from Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda will now be able to tour any part of these countries with the help of UniVisa.
The UniVisa will cost US$ 150, which is affordable and convenient for tourist visit to these three countries and also helpful for increasing regional tourism. Although Burundi and Tanzania aren’t part of this alliance, they are hoped to join soon. Also, the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) will be a boon for tourism, easing transport across the East Africa region.
Uganda Minister of Tourism Maria Mutagamba said that the East Africa media needs to spread awareness about the importance of tourism and stressed that regional tourism is important for economy. She said that Uganda is dedicated to the UniVisa program.
Tourism companies are happy that visitors are choosing Kenya as their favorite destination. The sixth annual Magical Kenya Travel Expo (MKTE) is an event organized by the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) which brings together, travel agents, tour operators and hoteliers in one place to carry out tourism business. It’s a great platform for tourism business operators to connect with clients, discuss and sign deals.
