Madhesh is a wonderful tropical region in Nepal and magnificent for tourism. Its culture is full of diversity and it’s famous for white water rafting over the world. It’s a wonderful and mystic meeting point of various Hindu and Buddhist Gods and Goddesses. Though Nepal is a secular country, there is a nice mix of various religions here and Madhesh represents a beautiful interaction between the Hindus and the Buddhists.
Madhesh is famous for its rituals, fairs and festivals with many renowned temples situated here. Several world famous religious centers are also situated in its territory. Lumbini, where Lord Buddha was born, is a worth visiting place in Madhesh with its wealth of historical treasures. It is also a world cultural heritage site of Nepal declared by UNESCO and a popular place for pilgrimage all over the world, especially for the Buddhists.
Several fairs and temples are here with cultural and historical importance, like the Maya Devi Temple, Janaki Temple, Ram Temple, Jaleshwor Mahadev Temple, Temple of Shiva Dhanu and many others. Several pilgrims visit these temples year round. Besides temples, there are many national parks and wildlife reserves in Madhesh visited by tourists, wildlife lovers and birdwatchers. Hence, the government needs to implement proper plans to improve tourism in Madhesh. It should preserve its historic, religious and cultural heritage sites and promote potential tourist spots. Since, the ministry has declared 2018 as Nepal Tourism Year, it is the duty of the government to implement such plans for attracting domestic and foreign tourists.
