A new luxury hotel in Zanzibar will generate around 55,000 jobs for Tanzanians and it will come complete with a tourism village and world-class golf course. According to the hotel’s developers, the 330 million U.S. dollar Zanzibar Amber Resort will be one of its kinds in Sub-Saharan Africa. Alex Kyriakidis, President for Marriot Middle East & Africa said that Marriott International Inc. was in final talks with Pennyroyal Gibraltar Ltd. for the Ritz Carlton Zanzibar Hotel, which will be developed as the Zanzibar Amber Resort mixed lifestyle community.
The hotel design will combine modern architecture with a dash of Zanzibar style for bringing together the unique feeling of Tanzanian hospitality. Kyriakidis is visiting the isle for making him acquainted with the project and meet some of the prominent stakeholders in the tourism industry and government of Zanzibar. Kyriakidis said that this resort will offer a retail souk, a tropical aqua park, a marina, an equestrian centre and international polo club, along with further hotels.
