In the month of September 2017 Austrian Airlines further increased its passenger volume: Austria’s flag carrier transported more than 1.3 million passengers, corresponding to a rise of 12.9 percent compared to September of 2016. This increase is mainly due to the airberlin aircraft, deployed within a wet-lease agreement and the associated expansion of European flight offering as well as the expanded bilateral flight traffic between Austria and Germany. The flight offering, measured in available seat kilometers (ASK) was up by 7.9 percent to more than 2.5 billion. Revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) increased by 9.7 percent to more than 2.0 billion. Capacity utilization of the flights (passenger load factor) was at an average of 80.7 percent in September 2017, an increase of 1.3 percentage points from the prior-year month.
