The Uttarakhand Budget of Rs. 45,585.09 crores for the fiscal year 2018-19, which was presented by the Uttarakhand Finance Minister Prakash Pant at the State Assembly building in Gairsain yesterday laid importance on agriculture, water conservation, tourism development and health.
Tourism is a major source of revenue for the state, and the sector has been allotted Rs. 183.37 crores in the Budget. The state government will be developing 13 tourist destinations across the 13 districts in the state. The announcement was made by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat.
While presenting the Budget, Pant said, “We will focus on developing one destination in each district that could attract tourists…(Under this scheme) we will not develop the already existing tourist destinations. We will instead focus on new or lesser known areas to serve as tourist attractions.”
For drinking water-related schemes, Rs. 862.84 has been allotted.
