Located within Mexico’s most exclusive beach community along the shores of Riviera Nayarit, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita and The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort in conjunction with DINE, master developer of Punta Mita Resort, and the Riviera Nayarit Conventions and Visitors Bureau, announces the winners of The V American Express Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic. As a part of the four-day extravaganza held April 30 – May 3, 2015, guests played in the Nespresso Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Cup, a two-day golf tournament with 220 participants that took place on Punta Mita’s two prestigious Jack Nicklaus signature courses, Bahia and Pacifico.
The Nespresso Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Cup attracted more than 500 spectator guests and raised more than USD 50,000 for acclaimed Mexican former professional golfer Lorena Ochoa’s foundation, which supports underprivileged children to reach a balanced life through educational programs, sports, healthy living, and self-esteem seminars. Sponsors of this year’s event included American Express, Aeromexico and Delta and Nespresso as the official airline partners along with other distinguished brands such as TaylorMade, Veuve Clicquot, Louis Roederer, SKYY Vodka, Campari, Minerva Beer, Casa Madero, Taittinger, Viñas de Garza, Punta Mita Expeditions, Wahaka Mezcal and Patrón Tequila, among others.
The much-anticipated winners of this year’s Nespresso Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Cup at The V American Express Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic were revealed during Saturday’s Awards Ceremony, including: Jorge Campos and Gillermo Amarena in the men’s division, Susan Anderson and Lorelei Hurtubise in the women’s category and Roberto Jones and Erendira Romo de Jones in the mixed set.
“The Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic continues to attract the highest calibre of chefs, sports enthusiasts and leisure travellers, as one of the most revered events in the destination of Punta Mita and Riviera Nayarit. The unique display of culinary excellence, exciting golf tournament in the most stunning setting and the opportunity to mix and mingle make it the most anticipated event of the season,” said John O’Sullivan, General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita.
With the continued success of the Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic, the sixth annual event will take place December 3–6, 2016.
Recap: The V American Express Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic
In a schedule filled with events throughout Punta Mita, the extravaganza kicked-off on Thursday with the Aeromexico and Delta Airlines Opening Cocktail hosted at Las Cuevas Beach at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita where guest chefs, winemakers, sommeliers and tequila masters welcomed guests with culinary delights and elixirs. Participants indulged in an oyster and beer garden at the new beachfront shack bar and live food stations offering exquisite bites, including smoked marlin escabech San Blas, kumai oyster tempura, chorizo wrapped sea scallops, slow cooked pork belly and parrot fish “chile toreado” tiradito. The celebratory cocktail reception was led by Chefs Betty Vazquez, Roberto Alcocer, José Manuel Baños, Paco Ruano, Jonatán Gómez, Richard Sandoval and the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita culinary team.
The following day, guests participated in an exclusive golf clinic presented by Golf Digest hosted by the talented Mexican former professional golfer Lorena Ochoa. Guests of The V American Express Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic had the rare opportunity to meet the legendary pro golfer, who shared her techniques and insider tips that led to her success as the number one female golfer in the world.
On Friday and Saturday mornings, the Nespresso Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Cup was held on the two stunning Jack Nicklaus courses, Bahia and Pacifico, with live food and beverage stations throughout. The exciting two-day competition featured three categories of two-player teams – Ladies, Men’s and Mixed Division. Winners of the golf tournament enjoyed exciting prizes, including collector’s items such as Taylor Made Equipment, Special Edition Tequila Patron, Veuve Clicquot Champagne, Johnnie Walker Blue Label, After Golf Shoes and luxurious Panerai accessories.
To conclude the event, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita hosted a Roederer Farewell Brunch for guests to mingle with friends and family while enjoying the authentic Mexican dishes of Chef Roberto Alcocer from Malva at the Resort’s beachfront Bahia Restaurant.
