The Chief Executive Officer of V. C. Bird International Airport said that the workers of V. C. Bird International Airport who were on the shift timings had to be evacuated to safety while the tower was flushed to make sure that the air was clean.
The arrival and departure of V. C. Bird International Airport resume shortly after 3 pm. But the numbers of Liat’s flight were already affected and so were the Virgin Atlantic and British Airways flights from London.
The American Airlines flights, which were scheduled to arrive at V. C. Bird International Airport from Miami and JFK airports, were diverted from Antigua, one of the twin islands lying between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Some flights were diverted to St Kitts, while others domestic and international flights had to go to San Juan instead.
The airport authorities are hopeful for the delays of the flights after reopening of the arrival and departure in V. C. Bird International Airport.
