Two Costa del Sol clubs, Valderrama and Finca Cortesín have once again been chosen as the best golf clubs in Spain by Leadingcourses.com internet users. The Ryder Cup venue in 1997 and twice host of the American Express World Golf Championships, Valderrama received an average of 9.4 points (9.3 in 2014), while Finca Cortesín, the venue for three Volvo World Match Play Championships, gained an average 9.1 points (9.2 in 2014). Valencia course La Galiana was third, with 8.9 points.
The rankings for best club are compiled based on numerous aspects influencing the quality of the golf club, such as the golf course itself, the overall impression of the club, maintenance, facilities such as those for practice, the clubhouse and the perceived value for money. Golfers indicate that the green fee price at Valderrama Golf Club is high but worth the money, as you receive an unforgettable experience in return. Golfers especially praise the small and fast greens and the fact that course management is required on every hole.
Number two Finca Cortesín Golf Club also provides a wonderful experience. Here people value the nice golf course and its amazing service. La Galiana golf course, number three in Spain, is praised for its hilly character. Golfers find this course particularly fun to play. Club de Golf Alcanada and PGA Catalunya Resort follow in close range of the top three.
Golfers’ Choice rankings “most up to date and transparent”
Every year numerous rankings circulate, announcing the best golf courses in a specific country. The Golfers’ Choice rankings of Leadingcourses.com stand out because they are based on the opinions of actual golfers, all of them available online at any time. “This makes these rankings the most up to date, transparent and independent in the golf industry.” Rankings are only compiled if enough reviews have been gathered for a given country. In 2014, for the first time rankings were published for Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, Portugal and Turkey, in addition to The Netherlands.
At the end of 2014 more than 235,000 reviews of golf courses were available on Leadingcourses.com, not only in Spanish but also in five other languages. All reviews on Leadingcourses.com are verified and approved by a dedicated content team. A golfer who has reviewed multiple golf clubs will receive a higher status and his or her review will therefore have more weight in the overall score of a club. To avoid any manipulation of its rating, various systems are in place that are able to track and signal questionable conduct by users. A golf club is only included in the rankings if it has received at least 10 reviews.
