The annual festival showcases the best cinema from India and the sub-continent, and provides opportunities for filmmakers, dancers and performers to showcase their work.
This year’s festival included more than 50 films in 17 languages and saw around 26,000 people attend a range of free live events in Melbourne and Dandenong that aimed to strengthen the bond and understanding between the communities of Australia and India.
In its five year history, IFFM has brought some of the world’s biggest screen stars to Victoria and grown to become a major event in our cultural calendar.
The 2017 and 2018 festivals will be delivered by Mind Blowing Films, a Melbourne-based film production and distribution company which specialises in Indian films.
The announcement comes on the back of the festival winning the City of Melbourne’s 2016 Melbourne Award for Contribution to Multiculturalism last week.
