Visitors are expected to flock to the new $23 million all weather tourism attraction which provides spectacular views of the bay and creates 70 new jobs.
“This sensitive development in Arthurs Seat State Park shows what a partnership with the private sector can deliver for nature based tourism,” Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio said.
The Eagle at Arthurs Seat was possible through a 50-year lease signed with the Victoria Government to build and operate the gondola.
The Government contributed $3 million to the project which includes improved visitor facilities, plus new parking and walking paths.
A new toilet block was also part of the development, with the facilities designed to meet the needs of people with severe disabilities.
The toilet block includes a Changing Places facility that allows people with severe disabilities and their carers to go out for a full day with the confidence that their needs will be met.
“As Victoria’s only gondola ride, The Eagle at Arthurs Seat will be an exciting tourism attraction providing breathtaking views of the bay and beyond,” Minister for Tourism and Major Events John Eren said.
