The first six months of last year had a record 55,628 Indian visitors to Vienna resulting in 15 per cent growth. The data given by the Vienna Tourist Board mentioned 64,075 spending nights in the city for the same period.
The rise in the number of bed nights has placed India among the high growth tourist markets along with China, Russia and Australia.
The romantic offerings of the city, its imperial history, rich tradition of music has attracted Indian families,honeymooners and young travellers.
Within a span of January-June 2017 a growth of 4.2 per cent at seven million visitor bed nights was noticed compared to the same period last year.
Norbert Kettner, Vienna Tourist Board Director said that the holidaying in Vienna will continue to increase with a new record of 6,924,000 for the first half of June 2017 as compared to 66,46525 during the same period last year.
