“Bollywood can be a good tool to market Vietnam as a tourism destination in India,” Vietnam National Administration of Tourism chairman, Nguyen Van Tuan, told Indian reporters in Hanoi on Monday.
Vietnam is eyeing India as a potential tourism market, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.
Tuan revealed that in 2008, some four million tourists visited Vietnam, with the figure rising to eight million in 2014.
The country received 54,000 Indian tourist arrivals last year and earned US$9 billion in tourism revenue.
Tuan proposed introducing a direct flight between India and Vietnam, to boost tourism and trade.
Vietnam is planning to hold a tourism roadshow in India, with two planned in Chennai and Hyderabad cities soon.
The Indian journalists were in Hanoi to attend the 40th anniversary of the Vietnam War and reunification.
