Visa-free travel concession of Vietnam for five European nationalities will be extended for another year. This will start as the initial trial period ends 30 June. So far, citizens of the countries like France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom have been enjoying visa-free travel to Vietnam. This has bolstered the tourist arrival.
To note, an industry group has recently called for a five-year extension to the visa waiver scheme for few visitors from Europe, just a week prior the trial period concluded. Vietnam’s Tourism Advisory Board suggested that this visa-free offer should be extended for another five years respectively.
Besides, the authority also recommended that the travel period should be extended from 15 days to a month respectively. On the other hand, there are additional recommendations to extend the e-Visa scheme as well. This is quite favored by the immigration officials as it provides them the chance to run checks on visitors before they arrive. However, more countries will adopt e-Visas in the long-run in order to earn revenue for immigration departments and make sure some kind of restriction exists on who is allowed to enter a country.
Terror attacks in Europe initiated by citizens’ places additional pressure to bring in stricter measures. In three months, the UK witnessed three major terrorist attacks. All of them were instigated by UK citizens, born and bred in the country.
