Vietnam received more than 2.2 million foreign visitors in the initial months of 2017. This was an increase of 33% in comparison to the same period in 2016, as predicted by the General Statistics Office. In the month of February this year, more than 1.2 million international visitors were welcomed which went up 19.1% over January and up 42.2% over the same period last year. This was a record boost in the number of foreign visitors in a month.
February was the second consecutive month when Vietnam received more than 1 million overseas visitors in a month. The country received more than 1 million visitors in earlier January which is up by 23.6% over the same period in 2016. These convincing results are sure to motivate the tourism industry and turn into a forefront in terms of its economic sector for the country.
Nevertheless, the structure and the flow of international visitors to Vietnam showed imbalance in the last two months making the sector admit to make forecasts to actively put forth plans into actions. Asia was the biggest tourism market of Vietnam as per the statistics; the first two months witnessed more than 1.5 million visitors, which is up nearly 40% in 2016.
