Viking River Cruises announced that for a limited time it will offer a special reduced Single Traveler supplement starting at 25 percent on top-selling river cruises, along with reduced airfare starting at $195. The new promotion is the first of its kind for Viking, providing a unique value for solo travelers to experience three of the company’s most popular itineraries: Danube Waltz, Tulips & Windmills, and Rhine Getaway.
“We have always been proud to offer our guests the widest variety of stateroom categories and sailing options of any river cruise line,” said Richard Marnell, Viking’s Senior Vice President of Marketing. “This new promotion offers even more choices for our guests to explore in comfort onboard our award-winning Viking Longships, sailing with other travel companions or just by themselves.”
Viking’s new offer for single travelers applies to new bookings from U.S. residents made before February 29, 2016. Air prices are per person based on cruise/cruisetour check-in date, and include transfers. Guests may select from three European river itineraries on Viking Longships®:
Danube Waltz (8 days; Budapest – Passau) – Explore Europe’s most enchanting countries along the Danube, visiting Budapest, Vienna, the Wachau Valley, Passau, Melk and Salzburg.
Tulips & Windmills (10 days; Amsterdam – Antwerp – Amsterdam) – Witness the splendor of Holland’s tulips in spring, and visit beautifully preserved medieval cities in Belgium.
Rhine Getaway (8 days; Amsterdam – Basel) – See Holland’s famous windmills, Germany’s romantic castles, multicultural Strasbourg and the Black Forest.
Since their debut, the Viking Longships have amassed a long list of prestigious awards. Most recently, Viking topped USA Today’s annual Readers’ Choice Cruise Poll for best river cruise line, and the entire Viking Longships® fleet has been named “Best New River Ships” in Cruise Critic’s® Editors’ Picks Awards.
Viking Longships integrate a patented corridor design and cutting-edge technology with comfortable amenities that reflect guest preferences and current travel trends. These features include a revolutionary all-weather indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace that reinvents the onboard lounge experience by bringing the panoramic outdoor river scenery indoors with retractable floor-to-ceiling glass doors and allows guests to enjoy the views and dine al fresco. Accommodating 190 passengers in 95 staterooms, Viking Longships have a patented layout that allows for two Explorer Suites – the largest river cruise suites in Europe – as well as seven two-room Veranda Suites with a full-size veranda in the living room and a French balcony in the bedroom; 39 Veranda Staterooms with full-size verandas; and 22 French Balcony Staterooms. Additionally, all Longships have sustainability upgrades, such as onboard solar panels and organic herb gardens, and energy-efficient hybrid engines that also reduce vibrations for a remarkably smooth ride.
Viking has expanded its fleet rapidly in recent years in response to increased traveler demand for destination-focused cruises. This year, in addition to launching new Viking Longships and a new vessel in Portugal in March, the company’s second ocean ship, the 930-passenger Viking Sea, is set to debut in April.
